THE SEASON OF GIVING

“Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference.”

This November, with the help of our community and member-ship, Voyager Village was able to give back and donate a large sum of food to the ICAA Food Pantry at Caring Hearts Thrift Shop operated by Josie Penberthy. Donations help families in need throughout Burnett County by supplementing the diets of low-income households by providing them with emergency food and nutrition assistance at no cost. The Food Pantry was especially important during the last year as COVID-19 forced many Wisconsinites to stay home. During the height of the pandemic, Caring Hearts Thrift Shop hosted food distribution events that helped over 700 families each month. Food Distributions continue to take place on the 1st Thursday of each month with the help of Webster Lions Club, Webb Lake Community Club, and Lakeside Church Women’s Group.

In addition to the Food Pantry, Caring Hearts Thrift Shop sells gently used items including clothing, household items, seasonal decorations, furniture, children’s toys, and much more. They also provide free items to those in need. Just last month the gave away free coats, mittens, hats, boots, and scarves to prepare Burnett County residents for the cold weather. If you are interested in learning more about Caring Hearts Thrift Shop, the Food Pantry, or how you can get involved, they can be reached at 715-349-8155. Donations can be dropped off at their location in Webster – 26356 Lakeland Ave S, Webster, WI 54893.

Thank you to everyone who helped us make a difference to families in need this holiday season. Together we donated over 400 non-perishable items and raised over $200.
